A Summer Picnic

Summer... don't you just love it?  With Memorial Day being the unofficial kick-off to summer, my family and I headed to the great outdoors for a relaxing picnic at the lake.

With four kids and a busy schedule, I wanted to make the food for our picnic as easy and stress-free as possible.  I bought all of the ingredients at my local Fresh & Easy.  Their food is so fresh and healthy, and truly is easy to grab and go!

I took my two cute little shopping buddies with me, and they had fun helping me pick out the food for our picnic.  

There were so many great items to choose from at Fresh & Easy, but we finally decided on sandwiches, fresh strawberries, watermelon, rosemary lavash chips, two different flavors of hummus, a tomato and mozzerella salad, split pea soup, blood orange and lemon Italian soda, and a chocolate cake for dessert... YUM!

One of my favorite things I bought were the amazing fresh&easy strawberries... see that label?  It says "from farm to store in 24 hours." No wonder they tasted amazing!  My son, a strawberry conoissour who could eat strawberries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, even said "Mom, these are the best strawberries I've ever eaten!"  Sold.

Another favorite was the fresh&easy blood orange Italian soda.  Oh my.  I think I'm now addicted!

It was so much fun to do something different and go to the lake for a picnic!  The kids loved our meal, and I loved how easy it was to put together and prepare.  Much easier than cooking at home, and I didn't have a big mess at home to clean up.

And chocolate cake for dessert that I didn't even have to make!

It felt great to get outside and have a fun night of eating, bike riding, and duck chasing.
